Cracked heel is one of the common problems that men and women face today. It affects people of all age groups and is usually caused because of dryness of the skin. The intensity of the problem can vary from person to person. For some, it could be an irritating problem that causes pain in their heels. For some others, it could be more serious leading to bleeding and acute pain. Whatever the case may be, cracked heels can be easily cured by the following home remedies.

Coconut Oil

This is one of the most underrated yet one of the most powerful ingredients in our homes. It is a natural moisturiser as well, so it acts well on cracked heels. If your heels are cracked very badly, you have to soak your feet in a tub of warm water for about 20 minutes every night before going to bed. After 20 minutes, rub off the dead skin with a pumice stone and wash your feet properly with clean water. Gently wipe off with a clean towel and then apply lots of coconut oil all over your heel. Wear socks and go to sleep. Next morning, you have to wash your feet thoroughly after removing your socks. You can follow this process for two weeks to see obvious results. Instead of coconut oil, you could use a moisturiser, olive oil or paraffin wax for same results.

Rice Flour

We all use rice flour for cooking. Did you know that this flour could be a great remedy for your cracked foot problem too? Make a paste of rice flour, apple cedar vinegar and honey. The consistency should be really thick. This can be used as an effective scrub after you have soaked your feet in warm water for about 20 minutes. Repeat this daily for a fortnight for best results.

Lemons

You can soak your feet in warm water containing a mixture of lemon juice, Glycerine, Salt and Rose water for about 20 minutes. After this, peel off dead skin and apply a paste of glycerine, rose water and lemon juice on your feet when you go to bed. Wash it off in the morning to see the difference. Repeat this for as many times as needed to make your feet soft and smooth.

Fruits

You can remove the dryness of your feet with the natural nutrients of fruits. All you need for this cream is one banana, flesh of half a coconut and half an avocado. Make a thick cream of this and apply on the affected areas and let it settle for 15 minutes. You can then wash it off and apply generous amounts of moisturiser on your heels, for good results.

Milk & Honey

Instead of soaking your feet in warm water, you can soak them in a mixture containing warm milk and honey. Milk and honey ratio should be 2:1 (2 cups of milk and 1 cup of honey). Blend these two nicely and soak your feet in this for about 25 minutes. Do this regularly to remove cracks and dead skin from your heels.
